For Backup and Restore the Router configuration the most essential thing we need is TFTP server.
We need to connect the TFTP server with the router for Backup and Restore. We also need to have an IP address for TFTP server.
For back up we need to go to the configuration mode and give a command #copy start tftp:
It will ask Adress or name of remote host. In this you give address of tftp server. After that
Destination filename would be asked. GIve any name in which you want to save .
The file will be saved into TFTP server. This will create a backup in TFTP server.
We do restoring process when there is anything wrong goes to the router.
First of all to restore we need to assign the IP address for the router with the same network of the TFTP server.
After assigning we need to type a simple command
#copy TFTP start
Then it will ask address or name of remote host. we will give TFTP server IP address.
It will again ask Source filename that we will give the name of file which we have to restore.
For destination filename we don’t put anything press enter.
This will copy the configuration file to NVRAM. Then we give the command copy start run to copy the NVRAM file to RAM.
This is the way how we do Backup and Restore.
Process of Backup and Restore
